Outreach Programs

Grand Strand quilters continue to be generous with their time, talent, and money to support our local community. Each year Grand Strand Quilters provide quilts, pillow cases, financial aid, and other donations to local agencies.  Some of the recipient agencies are listed below.

If you would like to donate a quilt top, find a list of appropriate quilt sizes here.

Fostering Hopehttp://fosteringhopeinc.com/

Fostering Hope is a private, non-profit organization that serves the needs of local children placed in SC Foster Care system.  The children are able to shop, at no cost to them, for clothing, shoes, school supplies, personal items, toys, coats and, of course, the quilts we make and donate to Fostering Hope for them.  Fostering Hope accepts private donations of gently used and new clothing, shoes, coats, school supplies from the general public. Learn more about Fostering Hope from the website below.

In 2025, we provided Fostering Hope with 328 quilts,

383 pillowcases, and 192 bags.

Members generously donated much-needed children's clothing and made monetary donations.

Help 4 Kids / Backpack Buddies http://help4kidssc.com/

The Help4kids / Backpack Buddies Philosophy: Help4Kids / Backpack Buddies is a 100% volunteer organization that relies solely on donations.   Children should not go to school hungry or without proper clothing, shoes or school supplies. We believe going to school prepared will help them learn and be better able to finish school and go beyond the cycle of poverty into which they were born.

In 2025, we supported Help4Kids with a food drive and monetary donations.

Habitat for Humanity http://www.habitatmb.org/

When Habitat for Humanity dedicates a house in Horry County we give a quilt to the parent(s) and one to each child that will be living in that house.

In 2025 we provided 20 quilts to Habitat for Humanity homes.

Quilts of Valor http://www.qovf.org/

Many of our members are active in the Quilts of Valor organization. Members bind many of the Quilt of Valor quilts for the Shore Birds. We also made a financial donation.
