To cover all service members and veterans touched by war with a comforting and healing Quilt of Valor

Quilts of Valor is a 501c3 non profit national organization.  It was founded in 2003 by Catherine Roberts.  As of 12 - 5 - 2018 we have awarded 205,509 quilts nationally .  Locally here in the Myrtle Beach area we have awarded 2,599 quilts since 2010,  Our quilts have an estimated value of $250.00 each.

Our national website is:  QOVF.org.  Here you can find information about the organization, free patterns, and the names for the state coordinators. There is also a monthly newsletter available to members who have signed up on the webpage.  Our local group is listed on the state map on the webpage.

Our local group is called the Myrtle Beach Shore Birds. We have 150 active members here and in other states. Our members come from many local guilds. These include members from Grand Stand Guild, Coastal Carolina Guild, Little River Guild, Conway Guild, and members from other southern states. The annual fee for membership is $5.00.  This entitles the member to a pin and membership I.D number.  That in turn allows you to access the Quilt of Valor members only webpage and have access to benefits for members.  One benefit is an account with the Superior Thread company.

Joan Wobbleton heads the local Myrtle Beach Shore Birds. Through Joan you can obtain panels for QOV quilts, as well as QOV quilt kits. When a member turns in a completed quilt top, we then add the batting and backing and find a longarmer to quilt the piece.  We then add the QOV label and binding and the quilt is then ready to be awarded.  We often have over 100 veterans waiting to have their Quilt of Valor awarded.
